Publishing Open Access

Trivent Publishing was initially established as a fully open access publisher and continues to strongly support the open access movement. While the press now also publishes non-open access titles, we remain committed to making open access publishing as accessible as possible for authors and editors.

Trivent Publishing does not charge authors for the publication of non-open access works. Open access publishing, however, requires financial support in order to cover the costs of the editorial and production process. For this reason, Article Processing Charges (APCs) and Book Processing Charges (BPCs) apply to open access publications.

Compared to many publishers in the academic market, our open access processing charges are intentionally kept minimal and competitive, reflecting our commitment to encouraging wider participation in open access publishing.

Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Two main models apply to article publication:

Conference-based publications. For publications resulting from academic conferences (such as conference proceedings or collected volumes of extended articles), the publication charge is typically included in the conference participation fee. The exact amount varies depending on the conference and the number of articles included in the volume.
Independent publications. For articles submitted independently of conferences, an APC is agreed upon in advance. The fee structure is similar to that used for conference publications but is paid separately.

Publication charges cover the costs associated with the editorial and technical process, including copyediting, typesetting, graphic design, online hosting, and ensuring long-term accessibility and free availability for readers. Fees are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted in response to production costs and market conditions.

The standard APC for the publication of one article in any of our series is €300.

Book Processing Charges (BPCs)

A precise quotation for book publication costs will be provided once all relevant information regarding the proposed publication has been received. However, the approximate publication costs for edited volumes are as follows:

Volume publication (up to 500 pages) €2600 (including VAT)
Volume publication (over 500 pages) €3400 (including VAT)

OPEN ACCESS POLICY

Trivent Publishing is committed to supporting the global open access movement and to increasing the accessibility and dissemination of scholarly research. We encourage authors, editors, and academic institutions to consider open access publication whenever possible and work with research projects, conferences, and institutions to facilitate sustainable open access publishing models.

Open access titles published by Trivent Publishing are made freely available online immediately upon publication and are distributed under recognised Creative Commons licences in order to ensure broad accessibility, long-term availability, and responsible reuse of scholarly content.

OPEN ACCESS PUBLISHING ETHICS

In order to publish and disseminate an author’s work, Trivent Publishing requires a publishing agreement with the author. This agreement establishes the transfer or licensing of copyright to the publisher while ensuring that authors retain significant rights to use and share their work.

For open access publications, authors retain the right to:

share their article for personal and scholarly purposes, provided appropriate attribution is given to the published work;
retain patent, trademark, and other intellectual property rights, including rights relating to underlying research data;
receive proper attribution and credit for the published work.

All open access articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). This licence allows users to copy and share the material for non-commercial purposes, provided that the original work is properly cited. Users may not remix, transform, or build upon the material, nor distribute modified versions of it.

All open access articles include a Creative Commons copyright statement on the first page of the publication.

DISSEMINATION AND ACCESSIBILITY

Open access publications by Trivent Publishing are made available through our website and through academic dissemination platforms and library infrastructures that support the visibility and long-term preservation of scholarly research. Metadata for publications is prepared according to academic publishing standards in order to facilitate indexing, discovery, and citation.

DIAMOND OPEN ACCESS JOURNALS

In addition to open access books and articles, Trivent Publishing publishes two peer-reviewed journals that operate under a Diamond Open Access model, meaning that neither authors nor readers are required to pay article processing charges (APCs). This model reflects our commitment to supporting equitable access to scholarly communication.
