ABOUT THE SERIES

This book series aims to enlighten the role of Canon Law in the everyday life of medieval society. To achieve this goal, it will host works that investigate not only the principal sources of Canon Law (that is, ecclesiastical legislation and ius commune academic scholarship), but also other formants of the Canon law order, exploring sources that are often less frequented by legal historical historiography, like handbooks for confessors, sermons of juridical content, manuals for inquisitors and others.

This series aims to publish original research (not only by legal historians, but by all specialists of the European civilization of the Middle Ages) that discusses medieval Canon Law also as a social and cultural phenomenon. To this end, we invite proposals for monographs, edited collections, and conference proceedings on any topic which is relevant to this perspective.
