Dr. Aura-Elena Schussler is a university lecturer in philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of History and Philosophy, Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Her research focuses on posthuman studies, transhumanism, Euro-Transhumanism, critical posthumanism, posthuman art and aesthetics as well as philosophical approaches to eroticism, sexuality, and religion. She is the founder of the Posthuman Studies Research Group and of the Transhumanism, Posthumanism, and Metahumanism student circle at Babes-Bolyai University. She also directs the International Posthuman Studies Conference (PSC) series and the National Human Nature, Culture, Technology (NUCT) conference series. In addition, she is the founder and director of the Posthuman Studies Association in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and a Member of the Humanity+ Advisory Board. Schussler is the author of two monographs in Romanian: Obscenul ca valoare postmodernă (Casa Cărții de Știință, 2013) and Dintre ale corpului și minții: despre seducție, erotism și pornografie (Casa Cărții de Știință, 2011). She is Series Editor of the Posthuman Studies book series published by Trivent Publishing and lead co-editor of Metahumanism, Euro-Transhumanism, and Sorgner’s Philosophy—Technology, Ethics, Art (Trivent, 2024), as well as editor of Nietzsche, Critical Posthumanism, and Transhumanism (Posthuman Studies, Vol. 1; Trivent, 2025). She serves on the editorial boards of Deliberatio: Studies in Contemporary Philosophical Challenges (West University of Timișoara), ETHIKA+ (Universidad de Chile), and Entanglements: Journal of Posthumanities, and is a former member of the editorial board of the Journal of Posthumanism (Transnational Press, London). Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Posthuman Studies, Nanoethics, and the Journal for the Study of Religions and Ideologies, among others. Her current research focuses on the development of Euro-Transhumanism as a distinct philosophical approach to the posthuman paradigm shift.
