Copyright Guidelines

Trivent Publishing is committed to ensuring that all publications respect copyright law and the intellectual property rights of authors and third parties. Authors and editors are responsible for ensuring that all material included in their submissions complies with applicable copyright regulations.

These guidelines are intended to assist authors and editors in preparing manuscripts that meet the legal and ethical standards of scholarly publishing.

AUTHOR RIGHTS AND PUBLISHING AGREEMENTS

In order for Trivent Publishing to publish and disseminate a work, a publishing agreement must be signed between the author (or editor) and the publisher. Depending on the type of publication, this agreement may involve the transfer or licensing of certain rights to the publisher, while authors retain important rights to use and share their own work for scholarly and educational purposes.

Authors generally retain the right to:

  • use their work for teaching and research purposes
  • share copies with colleagues for scholarly use
  • include the material in future academic work such as collected volumes or institutional repositories, subject to the terms of the publishing agreement

USE OF THIRD-PARTY MATERIAL

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any third-party material included in their manuscript. This may include:

  • images or illustrations
  • figures, tables, or diagrams
  • long textual quotations
  • maps, photographs, or archival material
  • previously published material owned by another publisher

Written permission must be obtained from the copyright holder whenever the intended use exceeds what is permitted under fair use or similar legal exceptions. Authors must also provide appropriate credit lines for all third-party material.

OPEN ACCESS PUBLICATIONS

Some publications of Trivent Publishing are distributed as open access and made available under a Creative Commons licence.

In such cases, reuse of the material is governed by the terms of the specific licence attached to the publication. Authors should ensure that any third-party material included in an open access publication can legally be distributed under the applicable licence.

PLAGIARISM AND ORIGINALITY

All submissions must represent original scholarly work. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts do not contain plagiarism, including the unacknowledged use of another person’s work, ideas, or expressions.

Proper citation and acknowledgement of sources are essential components of academic integrity. Manuscripts that contain plagiarised material or fail to properly credit sources may be rejected or withdrawn from the publication process.

If concerns about originality arise during the editorial or peer review process, Trivent may request clarification or additional documentation from the author.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF AUTHORS AND EDITORS

Authors and editors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • all material included in the manuscript is original or properly licensed
  • appropriate permissions have been obtained for any third-party content
  • all sources are properly acknowledged and cited

Failure to obtain the necessary permissions may delay publication.
