This (free) seminar series aims to reframe our understanding of work as an interspecies endeavour through a series of keynotes & papers that focus on the shared work undertaken by people and equids. There will be two separate but related online events to enable participation across geographic regions and timezones.
Format
The seminars will be conducted in English. Our intention is to attract a global audience, hence the series comprises two separate but related online seminars to enable participation across geographic regions and timezones.
Each seminar will combine presentations from the Sociological Review, academic/practitioner keynotes, as well as panel sessions. Each paper presentation will be 10 minutes or less, which will make for an informative, lively and interactive discussion among everyone present!

Equine History Collective Annual Conference: Close Encounters of the Equid Kind
When: 29 September - 1 October
Where: Hybrid / Roger Williams University, Rhode Island
The Equine History Collective holds an annual conference, with themes ranging across the spectrum of the equid-human relationship. The conference brings together ‘Equistorians’ from all walks of life to discuss how and why these animals play such an important role in history, and the ways in which they continue to influence us in the 21st century. Although the conference is academic in nature, we always encourage and welcome anyone with an interest in equine history to participate as we want to celebrate the diverse, international, and enthusiastic community of individuals who support, promote, and contribute to the field.
We are excited to partner with Roger Williams University for our 2023 conference will take place in hybrid format from September 29-October 1. This year’s theme is “Close Encounters of the Equid Kind.” Registration will open soon; for our call for papers, see here.
